Race For The Cure

.
2012 Komen Race 6

St. Louis had the annual Susan Komen Race For The Cure yesterday. There were 64,000 participants last year. I have not seen any figures yet for this year's event but Olive Street became a competitor to the Mississippi River in the size of its flow.

A dear coworker has been through the dark tunnel of breast cancer and came back out into the light. The staff has had a team the last few years to support her and the fundraising effort. I work with an amazing group of people, more about whom tomorrow.

The cure for cancer is something we dream about but an actual cure would also eliminate many thousands of research centers and all those people would be out of work. With that in mind, I wonder if they will ever find a cure for any kind of cancer? My wife has had breast cancer twice. Once in each breast and survived the treatments.

Disease is a recovery process.

This is an impressive photo of a river of pink supporters of a very worthwhile cause.

What a sight you've photographed, Bob. Amazing. Thanks for the post, and I'm looking forward to what's coming next.

Where I work has a team, small in running numbers but big in caring hearts.

Wow. What a mass of humanity. The Komen races have suffered big participant reductions in many places this year, because of their poor handling of the Planned Parenthood issue, but St. Louis seems to have had a huge turnout.

64 000 in St. Louis?? A dream number for other large towns. It's the first year I am not participating.

What an amazing sight Bob, it's just so inspiring when so many people get involved in such a good cause.
