STL DPB Does The Louvre

.
Louvre 1 (Tourists and Venus)
The Louvre can drive you insane. There's just too much stuff. We did an overview yesterday, which was plenty.

Above, the throngs get their look at the Venus di Milo.

Below:

Winged Victory of Samothrace.

The throngs get their minicam shots of the Mona Lisa.

A solitary viewer of David's Coronation of Napoleon with a detail from the painting. Note the eyes.

Allons enfants de la Patrie, Le jour de gloire est arrivé! David's Liberty Leading The People.

Early pickup at our apartment today, then a nine hour flight to Chicago. I hope to get some more editing done.

Louvre 2 (WInged Victory)

Louvre 5 (Mona Lisa)

Louvre 3 (Coronation of Napoleon And Josephine)

Louvre 4 (Napoleon And Friends)

Louvre 6 (Allons, Enfants!)

I'm so enjoying your trip. Just love your eye and what you choose to photograph. Am really surprised cameras are allowed in the Louvre. Generally we can't take photos in museums in Menton or in Monaco.

Bon continuation...

I've always been fascinated by those eyes in "Coronation"...their portrayal seem so modern; something you would see in a press photo these days.

The throngs with cameras in the Louvre make me insane too. The worst are the idiots posing in front of every major piece of art. I've only been inside once.

Parting is such sweet sorrow........

This must have been fun. You were wise to include the masses instead of trying to get around them. They are a big part of the context. Your sole viewer admiring the Coronation is excellent.

Yes the Louvre can drive you insane. So much stuff to see, so many people too.
Sorry to hear you're leaving already, it seems to me you'd hardly arrived, I would have gladly followed your tour much longer. I hope we'll get more in the coming days. Have a safe trip home.

Thanks for taking us along to the Louvre . . .we were put off by the crowds when we were there - probably saw more of it in your photos!
