This weekend is the Taste of St. Louis downtown, where a number of local restaurants sell small portions of their best stuff, there is entertainment, art (sort of), lots of people trying to sell you cell phone service, replacement windows or vacation timeshares in the Ozarks, and security people hassling you because the organizers prohibit "professional": cameras (who gets to define that?). When ShadowyOne and I showed up to shoot there late Friday afternoon, a popular local group, the Smash Band, was playing. Smash in an in-your-face radio personality on a morning drive time show. The band was pretty good but the enormous wall of speakers started to shake the fillings out of my teeth.
TOMORROW: What do you think a guy who calls himself Smash looks like?

Smash--let's see. Could it be Ashley Wilkes from "Gone With the Wind" or a modern-day professional wrestler or that musician Slash--is he the one with a whole lot of hair? Love the Smash band photo. What song are the blastin'?
Lynette - the music was so loud I can hardly remember the actual songs. The band's repertoire was mostly old rock and roll and R&B, upbeat party stuff. There will be a picture of Smash in my post tomorrow and I'll add a link to the Smash Band in this one now.
Happy 6th Month-niversary!
Congratulations on your six-month anniversary! I am not a fan of very loud music either, but I do like music.
Great pix--I love music shots, nice color! :-D
The kinds of places you might want to visit would depend in part on what kinds of things you like. The Renaissance Center is truly beautiful in a city sort of way. I love Belle Isle--If you just want to explore and look around. The museums here are great, the DIA (art museum), the science museum. I love Cranbrook. If you tell me a little about what you like to do, I'd be better able to advise you. Greenfield Village (historical area) is wonderful, as is the Ford Museum and the Zoo. Lots of good music here, blues and every other kind, symphonies, opera etc.
Belle Isle is great for walking.
The Zoo too, and Greenfield village--but tell me what you like to do/see!
Happy 6 month anniversary! Music looks like it'd sound great!
Strange Tastes, I mentioned Cranbrook. It is a lovely campus to walk around, very scenic, great architecture, and there is both a science museum and an art museum. It is located in Bloomfield hills.
Congratulation!!! You r blog is a lot of fun to read.
what a great post (and a great series on Samsh)...congratulations on your 6 months!
