Well, actually, I was just looking for a catchy title. The title is supply-side economic Republican economic baloney but it fits the situation.
The view is upriver as the great gates seen yesterday closed behind us. This time the barrier is horizontal. It will lower slowly, raising the water level in the lock until a boat can proceed safely northward. The engineering and construction of these things is beyond me.

We had one at my home town of Quincy and I have lots of memories as a kid of going down there to watch the barges pass through the lock. It was one of my parents favorite things to do during the summer. I loved looking down at the crew on the barge and watching they unhook the load and bring it along side and then hook it all back up again after they passed the lock. It was quite a procedure.
It is quite impressive.
