It is a different perspective on the arch. Spare, indeed.
And, no tripod. Eagles and ospreys are quite stable when they are perched in trees. Most of the time they just move their heads around. So, it is easy to hold even a heavy DSLR with a long telephoto lens. But, I do often sharpen an image while I crop and edit them.
