Redbird/Blackbird (Closing Day)

This bizarre mannequin stands near the door of the St. Louis Cardinals team store at Busch Stadium. The Cardinals are redbirds, like the birds on the bat across the shirt. No idea where this evil twin comes from. No, not a Minnesota Twin (who may or may not be in the playoffs at this writing). Minneapolis is too cold and clean for evil, isn't it?

Anyway, the Cardinals won their final game 11-4 over the Cincinnati Reds and were victorious in their final six games of the season, finishing 10 games over .500 in a 162 game season. Better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick. Their season attendance was over 3,400,000, pretty damn good for the US's 18th largest metropolitan area. Wait til next year.

WHAT I ATE TOO MUCH OF: KFC fried chicken (moi?). Our condo association's annual block party was late afternoon yesterday. One of my neighbors owns the regional KFC franchise. Call in the cardiologists.

TOMORROW: Taste of St. Louis

Would have been a better year if the Brewers were kept of out the playoffs.

The finish does give hope for next year.

"Wait'll next year!" is often our cry down here. Well both our teams won Sat. Whew! As for that mannequin thing, you're right , weird color. I thought it was a real person at first.

It is a very weird mannequin, but the Cards Bird's on the bat logo is still a classic.

At least they didn't use the light blue color from the early 80's.

If you look at Brookville Daily Photo's Bird Blog of August 2, 2008, you will see a similarly scary picture of a molting cardinal. They seem to loose their head feathers are are all black. It appears though that cardinals actually have red beaks.

Yikes, what the heck is that?

Minneapolis is NOT too cold and clean for evil. There is a lot of scary happenings in that city. I don't get into that city unless it's necessary.
