Thursday Arch Series

.
Arch 2012-07-15 1

George Lucas calls his special effects company Industrial Light and Magic. We can do some of the same ourselves with a good DSLR and software. This was shot at mid-day in cloudless summer brilliance.  I love how the curvature of the Arch stretches the sun's reflection over the whole south leg.

We probably have some  more to cover from the SlutWalk.

I'm not sure I'd have recognised the arch, it looks like a windowless skyscraper with (as Olivier said)lightning!

Never thought that you could make so much interesting and amazing shots of a single arch. I'm astonished every time.

Great shot. As I didn't know it was the Arch I should think a kind of plane wing flying trough the air.

You've outdone yourself again Bob, I think the thing about shooting the same structure many times definitely inspires you to look for that different edge. This is a stunner, the sun flash (looks like a lightening strike)is fabulous.
In answer to your question, the population of Perth is 2.25 million and growing every day!

Great shot, Bob.

The Arch made the front page of one of our papers here a few days back. It was taken from the observation deck down to the ground, and you could see the shadow of the Arch on the lawn. Lots of people were resting in the shade... and out of the sun.
