Big time bicycle racing comes to St. Louis each May. It's time for the Tour de Grove, which is, um, nothing like the Tour de France and similar races. There is a 1.7 mile / 2.7 km course laid out in the streets of The Grove neighborhood. Lots of good snaps. Should keep me occupied for days.

Looks like the low country's are arrived in your neighborhood.
Just give them a wide berth. One bike down? DISASTER!
Great photos.
There is a photographer who exhibits each summer at the Laguna Beach Festival of the Arts who sells remarkable photos of bicycle races. They are about 4 inches high and about 6 feet long.
He has rigged a camera so that it takes a continuous exposure on an entire roll of film. He times the speed of the bicycle racers so that the film moves through the camera at exactly the right speed to capture the field racing past, in focus.
I hope my description does it justice. It is remarkable to see and study the details of the field.
It's impossible to resist trying to capture the colour, style and motion. Nice work Bob.
The Amgen Tour of California begins today here in Santa Rosa. I just did a drive-by in the early morning hours viewing the set-up. Oh the logistics involved! Dozens of Budget rental trucks loaded to the rafters with gear, signs all over directing VIPs here, support this way, volunteers over there, mind boggling. All to be torn down tonight and moved south to San Francisco for tommorow's stage, to be repeated each day this week as they work their way south. The crowds will be overwhelming. I'll be happy watching Phil and Paul comment on TV this afternoon.
Very nicely done!
I have never seen serious large-scale bicycle race. Sounds like a photographer's dream.
Great action shots! They all look so concentrated. :)
Oh well done Bob, such wonderful action shots.. The bike helmets en masse are a little scary for someone who has a phobia (never heard of anyone else who has, icky all those little indents) Love the images..can't look anymore!!
Very cool event and photos.
