THIS AIN'T THE FOREST FLOOR

It's been awfully nice for summer in The Lou over the last few days with sunny skies and mild temperatures.  Before that it rained and rained and rained, so much so that strange things began to grow in the lawns around our little condo development. Never seen it in 30-odd years here. No idea what variety they are or whether that are edible, but some critter may have taken a bite and found out. The larger one was at least 6 in / 25 cm across.

Those giant mushrooms are strange looking, aren't they. Our neighbor has a circle of those giant ones in their yard. I should say they had. They got rid of them out of concern that their dog would eat them. I noticed that the squirrels didn't eat any of them the morning when they first popped out. The squirrel sniffed one and let it be.

Nature's balance at work.

We even see mushrooms here every now and then.

Animals pretty much know which ones are to be avoided.
