"Tis the season. There aren't a lot of places to go Christmas shopping downtown since Macy's closed the city center location. There is a good book store. You can get Cardinals hats and shirts at the stadium. Lots of places to buy a drink. We had a Fiat dealer but that only lasted about a year. Thus go mid-sized American cities.
But, hey, we're not Detroit. Always look on the bright side of life.

I think it's sad that city centres die. But your Christmassy shot is great!
When I was a teenager in St. Louis County in the 1960's, we used to take a bus downtown from Westroads Shopping Center in Clayton, walk around the big department stores downtown, which in those days were called Famous Barr (a May Co. flagship) and Stix, Baer & Fuller, then walk around downtown some more, then go to a Cardinals game, then take the Red Bird Express bus back to Westroads for one of our parents to pick us up after the game.
Your post today is the first information I have seen that there is no longer a department store in downtown St. Louis. I guess that should not surprise me, but it saddens me.
What an interesting link Bob.. I've never heard of a whole city declaring itself bankrupt before. It's so good to see the Arch again.. and looking so festive also :)
Growing up in Quincy Illinois, St. Louis was always the holiday spot to do some shopping. I remember the downtown as being busy with people hustling in every direction. My favorite place to shop was Famous Barr. Those were the days!
One can't go wrong with a Python song.
A very impressive shot, Bob!
This is a good one Bob.
I really like the arch and building...a dramatic rendition of this subject!!! The Christmas decor detracts a bit photographically, but brings a bit of whimsy to the shot!!!
Yesssss - another great shot for your arch series!
