Forest Park, Winter Sunset

.
Forest Park 2011-12-18 1

I was cruising Forest Park around sunset yesterday, frantic for material. If necessity (or Frank Zappa, your choice) is the mother of invention, desperation is the mother of blog posts.

There is a little pavilion in an artificial lagoon smack in the middle of the park. It's been on the blog before. As I drove by I noticed that the sky was holding its breath and the water was exceptionally still. Well, I'm no fool. It was deliciously peaceful until I realized I'd left my gloves in the car.

That's what I'm talking about Bob, that certain time when the light is just right! You caught it here perfectly. The reflections mirrored in the still water couldn't be better. Really gorgeous image.

Beautiful winter scene. Reminds me of so many British 19th century follies.

Le belvédère de Saint-Louis dans sa splendeur hivernale. It looks like a painting.

Gorgeous, Bob. Looks like some place you'd find at Versailles.

Breath-taking serendipity, even with your cold hands, Bob. Wow.

Lovely, Bob. Sometimes locations just jump up right in front of you, don't they? One thing I love about having a photo blog is that I have become MUCH more aware of my surroundings, in my continual hunt for new photographic material.

LOL at your comment. It's last Sunday that I realised that I should no longer venture outdoors without my gloves.

Yes I remember this lovely pavilion. The reflection is superb.

I've wanted to shoot the pavilion for ages, Bob. I can't ever get there at the right time of day. To have stumbled across this is amazing. You could plan and plan the right day/time to get there and not see it look like this. Well done.
