STL DPB On The Road: Gorbio, France

.
Manon et Quentin

Oh, what a day! Our colleague Jilly Bennett of Menton Daily Photo and Monte Carlo Daily Photo served us breakfast on her terrace. Then we drove to the nearby mountain village of Gorbio (this is where the Alps meet the sea) for an exquisite, leisurely lunch and a good walk around the town. Lots of good pictures but these are all I've had time to edit. Must get to bed - she is picking us up at nine for a trip to the weekly market in Ventimiglia, Italy, which is really just down the road.

Above, Manon and her brother Quentin, whose parents own Le Restaurant Beausejour where we had our lunch. Aren't they just beautiful?

Spare a thought for us poor Aussies who take 24 hours just to London!

Find this sort of wall painting an intellectual challenge ... what is it called again?

So jealous of your trip! They are a beautiful couple, and I like their names. Un grand bonjour a vous et a Jilly de Belgrade.

Thank you for taking us along on your trip. You are ambitious to do your posting while you are gone. Julie and I load up our photos in advance rather than trying to post from vacation.

So glad you're having a wonderful time Bob. Manon is beautiful and Quentin has the thickest hair I've ever seen. Enjoy France!!

Ah, many of us have become familiar with Gorbio and Ventimiglia by seeing it through the eyes of your hostess, the estimable Jilly. Enjoy your time over there. The bottom image is trompe l'oeil, isn't it?

Loving these photos, Bob and so enjoyed our day in Gorbio. Manon and Quentine are totally adorable. The t-shirt Quentin is wearing shows the name of his rock band. He is the guitarist.

Drooling over your photos . . . esp. love the color of the building in that last one, and the grilled window w/shadows.
