Louvre Madness

Louvre Madness 1

The Louvre is a battle. The visitor requires both strategy and tactics, even mid-week after European kids are all back in school. We didn't choose the whole field of combat, rather picking and choosing certain skirmishes. Still, it wore us out. After just a few hours I felt like the boy in blue in the bottom picture.

Oh my goodness, what a nightmare! Loving the photos, Bob that so perfectly capture the exhausting nature of your visit.

Paris has become just so darned crowded at any season. I remember strolling fairly much 'alone' in the Louvre and actually getting right in front of the Mona Lisa. I skipped the Louvre last time for a revisit, just because of the crowds. But I love your series and agree with Jilly about their showing the exhausting nature of your visit.

j'adore ton point de vue du Louvre, c'est tellement vrai. Et dire qu'il avait interdit les photographes....(evidement sauf avec des telephones portables )

There must be other museums.

You captured the atmosphere of the real terrible stream of tourists in the museum very well. No more quietly watching a famous object but there must be parts of the museum were you don't find so much tourists.

The crowds are insane! Poor Mona Lisa doesn't get a moment's peace and quiet all day...

This is precisely why I have NEVER seen la Gioconda in my whole life...

A great series, Bob. When we were in the Hermitage in June, it looked just like this. I decided not to worry about seeing the great works closely. Instead, I just took in the environment . . . and fired away with the camera.

I was there in July and it was just as you describe. I did manage to get a few good pictures of Mona Lisa and Venus de Milo but it was a struggle, not to mention having to watch out for the pickpockets.

Yeh, the Louvre requires strategizing, but you can't not go. There's always something to discover.

I agree with ODP you just have to go.. we went really early and it wasn't too bad, but later in the day it's just crazy!
