I'd like to do some posts on over-the-top, garish Christmas decorations. Problem is, I hate cold and wandering around residential streets in the dark with a tripod could attract the attention of the authorities. So I began to work up to the idea with some shots in Citygarden on a relatively mild evening. The lights in these globes throbbed and changed colors, sometimes all the same tone and sometimes varied.

I didn't know photography was illegal in your area!
I'm all for the idea of photographing over-the-top Christmas decorations. This is a fine evening photo, it's hard not to stare at all the colorful balls.
Bob: I haven't been by you blog lately and BOY have I been missing out on a treat. The photos lately are fabulous. The one of the Admiral needs to be archived. What a beauty/artifact of a bygone era. I can't believe we're letting it go.
We love Laurie Anderson too. Great connection to your photo.

These are great. I would love to have them in my yard!
The authorities? Really?
I love this though it isn't what I'd call Christamssy.
I'm right there with you, Bob. I'm intolerant of cold more and more. My dear wife always guilt-trips me into venturing out when the (thankfully infrequent) snow falls in Seattle to "should" make pictures. My heart isn't in it. One should note, by the way, than more often than not SHE is inside by the fire gazing through a window at the mesmerizing white scene.
Stay warm!
It's nice that you got out in the weather and took a great shot for all of us at home. Thanks for sharing the cool pic.

What an amazing and colourful shot! And yes, I also prefer mild/warm days to cold/frozen days. But sometimes it isn't our choice. We have to do something whether we want or not.
Thanks for sharing your great shots with us. And thanks for your dedication. Warm greetings from Stuttgart.
They're fun. Like you some evenings the thought of traipsing around in the cold versus snuggled up by the heater is no choice really.
These make me want to dance.
I kind of like the throbbing idea ...
It's beginning to look a lot like...the aliens have landed and deposited its pods. Beware the pretty colors.
Nice, very nice !
I can't believe people take the time to put up all sorts of decorations around their homes and then become suspicious when photographers come around to photograph them. Hello????
