Thursday Arch Series

In 1936, Dale Carnegie published what may have been the first popular self-help book, How To Win Friends and Influence People. He provided all sorts of tips, mostly quite sensible, and the book went on to sell 15 million copies worldwide. I, however, have a simpler suggestion. Wear a big DSLR around your neck and go to places where people congregate. Someone is bound to come up to you with a small point-n-shoot and ask, "Excuse me, please. Would you mind taking our picture?" They assume you know what you are doing.

Hopefully, you do. That's how I met Mallory, Cami and Alisha, three friends from St. Louis who were on an excursion to the Arch on Sunday afternoon. These charming young ladies had me take their picture with their camera and then let me take one with mine. Hope they like it.

TOMORROW: Along the Mississippi.

BY THE WAY, for any of you who found yesterday's post of interest, scroll down and read the text I added in the afternoon. It's a short but tender memoir by someone who knew the old building well.

très beau portrait, et bien vu l'angle de la photo, j'aime beaucoup cet écrasement de l'arche

Fascinating update on the building yesterday. There is a Loretto Chapel in downtown Santa Fe that is beautiful. Its architecture was copied after St. Chapelle in Paris.

Bob, regarding your comment here < http://dailyphotofromstgo.blogspot.com/2010/03/law-school-university-of-chile.html >, not all Universities in Chile have been privatised. There are State universities as well (which are regarded to be the best), but, just like in the US, you have to pay for them, and a big price.

What a great shot and a great memory for the girls. Look you're off on your 100 Strangers Challenge. 97 to go! HA

You could even make money. Not that you would want to. I've toyed with the idea :-)I'll take your picture and meet you when you come out of the palace, hand it to you and you give me 2,50€. Just kidding, I wouldn't do such a great job anyway.

That is a smile-inducing image!

Just think - put one of those change makers on your belt and wander around the city offering to take photos. It might pay better than lawyering...

;-)

Yes, the perennial request. Looks like you must have been wearing your chick magnet visibly around your neck -:)
