Who Pulled The Drain Plug?

.
Low River - Helicopter Barge

I've never seen the water level in the Mississippi so low. It's down below the bottom of the cobblestone levee to the point that the rock breaks up and becomes the river bottom. This is the barge that helicopter tours depart from. The two gangplanks are usually way up the bricks.

Of course, we've seen the opposite. Maybe it's just the river breathing, in and out, in and out.

Wow yes totally opposite images Bob, our water dams are a wee bit low these days too, water restrictions are in place for summer. J'adore your theory of the river breathing 'in and out'.

This is a scary issue. I have been reading about the low water levels but I haven't seen it illustrated as well as by your two photos. The waterways bring coal to northern power plants and grain products south. If they become impassable, the region and country will have problems that most people haven't thought about.

This would certainly be a pain in the ass for Huck and Jim for sure.
