Boys Of Summer

Cards Padres 2014-08-14 11

Some of the Cardinals hang out in the dugout before the start of the game. The players' socks and the length of their pants is the only bit of individual expression allowed in the uniform. Adam Wainwright, far right, is one of the great pitchers of the day.

Below, kids scooping up team trinkets. I certainly did it when I was young and my father took me to Yankee Stadium. There is a strong memory of a ballpoint pen in the shape of a little baseball bat with the Yankees' logo. I treasured it. No different today.

Great first shot again. Looks like the time is gone 50 years back.

You are getting me ready for my Red Sox game on Tuesday.

Another difference is that some players wear shirts underneath with long sleeves, some with short sleeves, some with no sleeves.

Boys of summer, indeed. Great shot that shows the timelessness of the game.

First Fenway game. Dad and I saw a doublehaeder with the Tigers. I bought a Red Sox pennant for my bedroom wall.

No wonder those guys look so happy Bob, they surely must feel the wave of home town love that surrounds them as you say whether they win or not!
