This place is like a forced labor camp we cheerfully sign up for. I'm exhausted. Our teacher, David Wells, is brilliant. Check out his excellent (and free!) podcast tutorials here.
He's got photographic intuition that's like driving a car - he just knows where to go and what to push. I don't agree with him on everything (and I shouldn't). The top photo didn't even make the first cut of his review of my assignments and it's my absolute favorite. De gustibus non est disputandum. By the way, that's him just below, trying to give us some material for a light-shadow exercise.

Well if it was a classic street shot you were after Bob, you certainly nailed it, love the synchronized shadows, in fact nice shadows all round. well done..get some sleep.

I'd like to know what David had to say about the top photo B. I did lighting with my students this week and I realized that I'm all up in some silhouette action lately. Love the photo of David. The zoom zoom at the bottom is terrific.I can do blur but never when I'm actually suppose to.

I took a Nat Geo weekend course last year. There was a principal instructor and two of her Nat Geo friends who just showed up to help out. While she was on the other side of the room, the two unofficial guys looked at my favorite shot and simply gushed. When the instructor came by, she gave it a split second look, said "a near miss" and went on to look at some other of my shots. It illustrated for me that taste is individual.
Well of course I'm green with envy about this course but perhaps not how tired you are! That first photo really drew my eye. I love the idea and feel of it - perhaps your teacher felt the person on the left is not shown in enough silhouette.Too much shadow. I wonder? Regardless I really like it. Dramatic. Second one of your teacher really works and I like the last one very much too. Bob, thanks SO much for the link to David Wells' website and his podcasts. Hopefully I will be learning from afar. Sure I will.
