Shot from the plane during final approach into La Guardia. Did somebody say something about turning off electronic devices?
I've lived is St. Louis for a long time but I love the big city. For my taste, there couldn't have been a better place to grow up. It's just so stimulating. I love to go back. I'm just glad I don't have to pay to live there.
The towers of midtown are in the center (interpret the shadow of the cloud anyway you like). The East River is in front, Brooklyn and Queens at the bottom, separated by Newtown Creek. You can see a sliver of the Hudson River in the middle background. The dark stripe at the right center is Central Park.
Sorry if there were not many comments yesterday. When this post goes up the Crowes, Wilsons, Marks and associated hangers-on may still be swilling my sister's planters punch. You know how that goes.

Below, the financial district and the southern tip of Manhattan, followed by a view of the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges.

Some great views over New York here. Never visited myself, but hope to do so one day.
Awesome shots Bob, living in a fairly small city like Perth, I just find the density and size of New York unbelievable!!Great shots from the plane.

Wow, those are through a plane window? I'm impressed. Mine always look like they're though a plane window. Thanks for the info on where you post, I'll look for your Europe photos when you return.
Oh I think it's marvelous that you and Mrs. C come from such diverse parts of this country. We get to enjoy BOTH~! I don't think I"ve ever seen some of these views of the Big Apple from above, B. Party on!!!!!

I can't believe the air is so clear. This is summer; where's the smog, for heaven's sake.
I'm always afraid to take pictures when they say that.. Don't want to mess with the signal or whatever and bring us down. I guess I should be relieved now right
Wow, you got some really great shots out the window! These are great.
Wow! You got a perfect seat and perfect weather for that approach! So awesome.
EXCELLENT shots! I now prefer night-time approaches (despite the awesome daylight views) because I always feel like we're going straight into the water as we're landing.
Wow, the shot of the southern tip of Manhattan is spectacular, esp. since it was taken from the plane.
