Crown Fountain

Crown Fountain 1

Big day on the street in Chicago yesterday. This is a genuine Big Important City, which St. Louis is not.

Crown Fountain is one of the city's most photographed modern landmarks. The faces of thousands of Chicagoans are displayed on a giant LED screen on monumental blocks. Water streams down all sides. From time to time, the mouths spout a stream of water. Children delight in this place.

STL DBP On The Road: Chicago

.
2011-10-08 Chicago 1

We drove to Chicago Friday afternoon, about 300 miles or 500 km, across the broad Illinois prairie. A bit of downtown touristy stuff yesterday, including the much photographed Crown Fountain in Millennium Park. At the Art Institute of Chicago, I feared that these young men, upon order from their sergeant, might pee in unison on George Seurat's Sunday on La Grande Jatte.

The Chicago Marathon is today. Pix of my son battling his way through tomorrow. We have a long drive home this afternoon so the post may not go up until the morning U.S. Central Time.

Between Chicago and St. Louis

.
Boy In Crown Fountain

Back home now, but I need something between Chicago and fresh material from The Lou. So, how about some gratuitous cuteness? This kid is marching through the half inch of water between the two video slabs of Crown Fountain in Millennium Park.
