Denali

2015-08-11 View of Denali 1

You're lucky if you get to see Denali. It's officially Mt. McKinley but President Bill had little to do with its protection. Most people now refer to it by the native Alaskan name that means the High One. It is by far the tallest mountain in North America. The peak is lost in cloud most of the time but we got a peek from Talkeetna, 70 miles away.

Beautiful...if only it weren't so cold up there!

Love that second photo. It needs to be framed.

Fantastic Alaska images Bob, what an amazing experience. I thought you all would be more rugged up, what were the temperatures like? Being one of the few to see the mountain peak would have been pretty special!

The climber Bradford Washburn called Denali an old pal. He'd climbed it a number of times, including with his wife. I'd love to have a go at the mountain. It is magnificent!

Fantastic image of Denali within the clouds here BC. The b/w treatment is eye-catching.

While I didn't actually comment, I did follow your adventures, at least on FB. Superb photography and of course I am just a tiny little bit jealous of the destination...

Now I am embarrassed. I have, of course, heard of Mt. McKinley. And, of course, I have heard of Denali. But . . . I didn't know that they were two names for the same thing. My head is hung in shame.
