I don't know if this happens in other cities but it's pretty common here. We have groups of young African-Americans (20-ish down to small children, and almost all boys) who come to public events and set up a massive drum section. They just call themselves drumlines and play for tips. They do well - their rhythm explosions are hot. There is one group that is always outside of Busch Stadium after baseball games, beating on big plastic buckets. All they need are sticks and something to bang on.

we haven't had this experience yet in brattleboro.
We have a group of youngsters from the Antilles who do the same here in Almere on empty oil barrels and real drums. Only when it is nice weather I have to add.
Sounds fascinating and great fun. Haven't seen that much interest in drum lines here. Great capture.
Bonsoir M. Crowe (well it is here in Perth!!) I saw a movie once where there was a drumline set up, have to say they were fantastic, the beat amazing. Wish they did have them here I'd definitely enjoy and contribute. Love the depth of this shot Bob and the concentration on the young lad's face.

I first saw a group of kids from Evansville IN, performing as Boom Squad, Inc. They were little on thru older teens. Little boys and girls had tiny cymbals or snare drums. I couldn't find a video that did them justice gut here's one
