A NOTE FROM JANUARY 6

I was preparing this post on Thursday evening, overwhelmed by the day's news. As I looked for an image to fit my mood, I found this stencil on the sidewalk in Cherokee Street.

INVEST LOVE

Sidewalk poetry on Cherokee Street. I don't completely agree with this. The ones who leave may need our love even more.

COULD ANYTHING BE SIMPLER?

Artica has no censorship. You can  say or show whatever you want, and then the interpretation is up to the viewer. The rainbow border on this piece gives us a hint that there is more to it than X = X.

COULD BE OUR CITY MOTTO

Some countries have official mottoes:  Dieu et Mon Droit; Liberté, égalité, fraternité; E Pluribus Unum. Some cities do, too. I've always been amused by Chicago's, Urbs In Horto, City In A Garden. Right. The beloved late columnist for the Chicago Sun-Times, Mike Royko, maintained it should be Ubi Est Mea? or, Where's Mine?

I don't think St. Louis has one but this would do. We went to one last holiday lights drive-through on Saturday, this time at the big Anheuser-Busch brewery. This town has its single malt Scotch fanciers and some who can tell one vintage of Bordeaux from another. However, if we all collectively raise a glass this could be our cry.

WE CAN ONLY HOPE

But, given the history of our species, I'm not particularly sanguine. As they say on American television, stay tuned for further details.

CHOOSE YOUR BILLBOARD

Or are they really advertising the same thing? Jefferson at I 44. Today's theme music here.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE

"Love is all you need," John Lennon sang. "It's easy." Not necessarily. It is effortless for a parent to love a child and vice versa. It's in our genes. But perhaps serious, abiding love comes with time, maturity and deep commitment. Your opinion may vary.

Found on the riverfront south of the Arch, next to the Paint Louis section of the flood wall.

Another travel day today.  A lone star tonight.

STL DPB In New York - Protect Your Heart

Graffiti or street art, as you prefer, under the southern end of the Highline. The first one could break your heart. The second might be advice for lovers and the third a response to it.

Springtime In Citygarden

.
Springtime In Citygarden

Today is the first day of spring in the northern hemisphere. (Or was it yesterday?) What better way to mark the occasion than with a pair of lovebirds in Citygarden on a beautiful day, framed by the art.

Tomorrow is St. Louis Daily Photo's fourth anniversary.
I'm trying to come up with something so do drop by.

What can you do with a polarizing filter on a clear day? Downtown St. Louis 365 gives it a shot.

Soy Amada

.
No, not a new Japanese sauce. Soy amada is Spanish for "I am loved." The speaker is feminine. What a great feeling, so why not proclaim it? Shot on Cherokee Street.
