We are a mid-size Midwestern city. People from the big cities of the coasts pass over us, sometimes leaving mysterious patterns in the sky. This was taken from my office window on a recent late afternoon, facing roughly east-northeast. The plains of Illinois are in the foreground.

Fly Over Country
If you don't know the term in the caption, click here.
This was what was outside my office windows yesterday afternoon. iPhone shots, via Photoshop.
I'll get back to the Garden Glow photos soon. Too much to do at work, too many evening obligations got in the way of editing. However, we are driving to Kansas City today, a very pleasant place, on our way to see Mrs. C's family around Marysville, Kansas, for Thanksgiving. Her mother turns 97 this weekend and is doing pretty well, thank you. There will be some quiet time to work while out on the prairie.

Old Court House and Contrail
.
Out here in the Midwest we're in flyover country, as jet airplanes float across our skies from east to west coast and back, literally looking down on us here in the middle. I love contrails, though. They are magical clouds that can create symbols in the heavens.
WHAT'S KEEPING ME FROM POSTING COMMENTS ON MY FRIENDS' POSTS: time! How did I get myself into this? Zooming around the office Tuesday, two hour drive down here to Carbondale, Illinois in the evening, a full day of hearings here Wednesday, drive back to my office in St. Louis this afternoon - you get the picture. No rest for the wicked. I haven't forgotten you
TOMORROW: Thursday Arch Series.

Asterisk
We here in the Midwest are under the crossroads of the American skies. I saw this in my neighborhood as I returned from work Wednesday night. An asterisk often leads to a footnote or comment. Sometimes is is a substitute for indelicate letters, as in f*** or its cousins. What does the asterisk in the sky mean to you?
