Recreational marijuana, or cannabis if you will, is legal in many but not all U.S. states. It was authorized here in Missouri by referendum. Pot remains unlawful on the federal level but the rules are not enforced in permissive states. Shops, called dispensaries, are all over. Never dreamed I’d see a sign like this back in college days when little plastic bags were smuggled in the dorm. Strange that I have not smelled it on the street recently. Chemistry, maybe.

JUST WHAT SPORTS FANS NEED
As with any American pro sports venue, the new CityPark has plenty of places to get a drink. The local behemoth, Anheuser-Busch (actually Anheuser-Busch Inbev) is a major sponsor. The products of some of our excellent local breweries are on sale. As I walked around the stadium, I saw a wine and cocktail bar. You can get a buzz any way you want.
Actually, there is another choice directly across the street. One of Missouri's newly licensed cannabis dispensaries is opening. Using that term for the business seems like a euphemism to me. Competitors that call themselves liquor stores are so much more candid and honest.

ONE TOKE OVER THE LINE
Recreational use of marijuana recently became legal in our fair state. Not surprisingly, since intoxication is a major theme of the event, some folks were out hawking their wares during the Mardi Gras parade. The double entendre on the billboard is cringe-worthy.
I expected the parade route to reek of the stuff but the dominant aroma was spilled beer. When I returned home I went online and found that use is only permitted in private homes and never in a public place. It was surprising that no one was testing the limits.
