SATURDAY AND MONDAY

From Saturday's demonstration at the statue of Louis IX in front of the art museum. It strikes me that "loser" is Trump rhetoric. And, of course, there are two sides to every story. If interested, see his bio on Wikipedia at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Louis_IX_of_France. There is much to say on his behalf. You decide. I don't have a dog in this fight. I've been a recovering Catholic for a long time.

I drove by the site late yesterday afternoon to see what was up. The pedestal had been cleaned. No one was there.

Louie And The Rainbow

Louie And The Rainbow

The town's favorite saint and king on his perch atop Art Hill, ordering a bit of extra color in the sky.

Vision

Forest Park 2012-01-22 4 (Statue of St Louis)

Foggy, cold, damp, miserable day yesterday. Everything your eyes observed was soft, including the angular statue of King Louis IX of France, St. Louis, in front of the art museum.

That Apotheosis Thing Again

.
When I was looking for an image to use for my 1,000th post I considered this one. It would have been okay but I'm glad I cooked up that bit of silliness that made it online. We've seen this guy before, Louis IX, King of France, Saint Louis. it's the statue in front of the art museum. You can see its position in Wednesday's post, behind the tree farthest to the right.

The official name of the statue is The Apotheosis of St. Louis. This town could use an apotheosis, that's for sure.

Le Roi Saint

.
The original St. Louis, King Louis IX of France. He makes an appearance here from time to time. The monumental statue is atop Art Hill, in front of the St. Louis Art Museum. The official name of this thing is The Apotheosis of St. Louis. What a concept. We could use an apotheosis around here.

Gonna get back out with my camera on this holiday weekend. I have two fun invitations for Monday. Someone from the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra asked me to shoot the Gypsy Caravan, their gigantic Memorial Day antique, craft and flea market. Later in the day, Mrs. C. and I will head out to the St. Louis Renaissance Faire. As regular readers know, I received a personal summons from the Queen of the Faeries so it must be magical.
