CLASS ACT

The best subject of almost any parade I photograph is Audrey SImes. She is on the board of directors of the Artica festival I shoot for and does much of their computer graphic design. She is a choreographer and costume designer/maker. She creates her own look for each event and every one is more amazing than the last. And, wow, does she know how to pose.

The guy on the right is okay but he's beside the point.

ARTICA 2022

Artica, The Lou's wacky, almost anything goes festival of performing and visual arts, is back with us this weekend. The opening Saturday always has a parade for everyone (there are few spectators except the photographers) at exactly 1:11 PM. The reasons for that are lost in the mists of time. Here, the inimitable Audrey Simes, seen at so many interesting local events, struts out as drum major.

I told her I can never guess what fabulous costume I will see her in next. She said this was something she, oh, just threw together that morning.

AUDREY

Occasionally I'll see someone I know when I'm shooting at the Mardi Gras parade. This is Audrey, who does a lot of the computer graphics work for Artica. She knows plenty about costume design and construction, too, and has a perfect sense of posing.

On another note, St. Louis set a high temperature record yesterday of 82F/28C. It beat the old record by 3F/1.66C. It's still winter.
