It's . . .

Monty Python's Flying Circus? At least I think it's a python. This person was walking around the central area of the Pagan Picnic last weekend. These creatures are pretty tame, at least when they are not hungry. The owner let kids pet it and adults put it around their necks. Even my granddaughter Ellie likes to play with them. Personally, I'd pass. However, I love the snake's burnished golden color and beautiful patterns. How do genes accomplish that?

For animals that produce such disparate feelings from viewers, they certainly hold a fascination for many of us. I agree that they are remarkably beautiful!

And here I thought cuddly a lizard was creepy. Silly me.

They're quite an animal. I've touched one during a street festival here.

Makes for a fun portrait.

I am no fan of huge snakes as pets. Some idiots in Florida let Burmese pythons get loose in the Everglades and it is now a serious environmental disaster. They eat everything in sight -- including deer -- and have no natural predators in Florida.
