Portraits of St. Louis Artists: Tom Huck
I did not know about Evil Prints until last weekend's studio open house (must be getting old and out of touch). The place is full of young artists covered to one degree or another in tattoos and flesh-eating steel hardware. Tom Huck here is one of the mainstays. He's the kind of person the phrase "fevered imagination" refers to. Tom makes outrageous wood and linoleum cut prints. Check out examples of his work here. While I watched him work, Tom used only tiny hand tools. I cannot imagine my own hands working with such precision. I must say that I like this guy's work. I like details and he seems to satisfy my needs for that. Nice photography too.

The impish grin and the casual pose make this so appealing. Outrageous art is exactly right. I would have loved to see him at work. I thought the panel behind him might be fabric. That's amazing that he is able to get that degree of detail from linoleum printing. Great portrait.

What an interesting contradiction of a person!! The tattoos give the impression of a wild rebel, but the innocent smile reveals a sweet person underneath that tough exterior. :-)
He does look incredibly sweet natured, real twinkle to the eye. Fabulous detail in the artwork. Wonderful portrait of the artist.
Whew, after yesterday's musical interlude, Frank Zappa was a welcome relief.
Wow! Precision work indeed — and fantastic eyesight.
