STL DPB ON THE FARM - GREEN MACHINE

More heavy equipment on the Kruse family farm, and once again, I do not know what it's for. The green and yellow color scheme says that it is made by John Deere, and it looks good in the late afternoon light.

The St. Louis Fringe Festival starts tonight and runs through Sunday. I have 22 shows on my calendar to shoot, and that's not nearly all of them. We'll be seeing lots of theatrical photography for a while.

MADELEINE MONDAY ON TUESDAY - BIG RIG

It’s just bloody hot here today, 100 F / 38 C, and we just got home from Kansas City. Too much to get back out on the street yet, although tomorrow should be much cooler. So for now, we’re still on the family farm. Ellie was fascinated by the farm animals and equipment, a long way from her city kid experience. My brother-in-law, Mel, took her out in the tractor and let her steer on the way back. Big time fun.

MADELEINE MONDAY

The picture of self-assurance down on the farm. An apple tree with ripe fruit was a great find. I lose track of the degrees of relation but the little boy, Caden, is the grandchild of one of Mrs. C's siblings. Ellie is clearly in charge of the operation.

DOWN ON THE FARM

For no apparent reason, the City Museum has added a small tractor to one of its open spaces since my last visit. Children like to sit on it and work the wheels and levers. Ellie seems to be taking this seriously. After all, one of her grandmothers grew up on a farm. While Audrey shares the same heritage, she would rather climb on all the protrusions for the fun of it.

Down On The Farm

Well, not exactly. Another group that always shows up at the St. Pat's parade is this fan club for old, small-engine farm tractors. The top one looks like it came out of a steampunk video. Mrs. C remembers Farmall tractors growing up in Kansas. They aren't around any more. Her brother and his wife who run the old family farm have this gigantic New Holland machine.

We may get some snow tomorrow morning and the cherry blossoms are just beginning to pop at the botanical garden.  Hope it works out.
