These concrete spheres are visible in the background of yesterday's photo. They serve as bollards, the now-common barriers meant to prevent people from driving vehicles into places they shouldn't go to do things they shouldn't do. The view reminds me of some astronomical diagrams.

Disorientation
Running low on material but still finding images from the Ice Carnival a couple of weeks ago. This was a strange amusement, apparently a double sphere, the inner and outer connected by these green pins. Someone gets in and then runs like crazy down a track bordered by inflated tubes, trying their best not to fall or go upside down. It's actually a race. There is a second sphere, not shown here, in which another contestant tries to go down and back more quickly.
I don't think there was a prize for the winner but second place got a packet of Dramamine.

The Music of the Spheres
.

Whoever is in charge of Citygarden put up these globes in November. My guess is that they were a Christmas decoration. As plain as a cue ball during the day, but at night they pulse with clanging colors. (This is a color picture of them from a post in December.) Well, it's February 18 and here they are still. No idea how long they will be around. They make me think of a model of a molecule or the eggs of alien invaders from space.
