Purple skies and purple paint at the Fourth of July carnival in Webster Groves, the town where I live. City Daily Photo members from around the world drape themselves in the royal color at https://citydailyphoto.org/2026/07/23/august-gallery-purple/ .

THERE AREN'T A LOT OF PURPLE VEGETABLES
I finally got off my rear and found some new local material. There is a Saturday farmers market in the city's second largest (and my favorite) park, Tower Grove. It continues every week until Christmas. There was a big turnout with mild weather yesterday. I've never seen the like of this and, in general, purple vegetables are rare - some potatoes and maybe eggplant/aubergine on the outside. Might buy some next time.

PURPLE RAIN
I swear the sky had these hues late afternoon on the second day of Artica. They may have been, um, enhanced in the computer but I did not add a color filter. The circle contains the festival's logo, a stylized version of the wooden Our Lady of Artica. The structure is the light bridge over the day-glo croquet field.

CITY DAILY PHOTO MAY THEME DAY - PURPLE
Well, I don't have any pictures handy of something purple - it's not my color - and I'll be damned if I'm going to post a pretty purple flower. I came up with this idea when I saw a coaster in a local restaurant called Big Sky Cafe. You can see other City Daily menbers blends of red and blue at http://cdpbthemeday.blogspot.com/
It occurs to me that I must relate to Jimi Hendrix about the way my parents related to, say, Tommy Dorsey. All things must pass.
