A vendor's stall at the twice-weekly Feria Tamarindo street market. Every kind of local food, clothing and crafts are on offer. I, personally, wouldn't be caught dead in any of this stuff. When I'm shooting on the street I tend to wear black or soft blues and greys to blend in. Around here, that might make me stand out.

Nihilism
A bleak hipster clothing store on Cherokee Street. I bet there is some kid in the back on a hard chair reading Kafka's Metamorphosis. The whole look made me think of the old Fugs song Nothing. (I actually owned this album. Despite what it says on the YouTube link, it was originally issued in 1966 when I was in high school. The verses get funnier as it goes on.)

Fancy A New Frock?
Dresses for sale at the Pagan Picnic. You still sometimes see people wearing tie dye clothing around here. Retro hip, maybe, but not my style.

Local Fashion
We're not the biggest town, nor the most beautiful or famous. But we have a strong, positive sense of self and, well, a certain look. Whether it's recycled frocks or tee shirts with attitude, the Swap Meet has plenty of it.
It's the Memorial Day holiday in the US. Mostly quiet except for the ceremonies of rememberance and family events. Swimming pools traditionally open this weekend. There has to be something out there to shoot.

Madeleine Monday Bonus
So there's this restaurant/caterer/wedding cake shop near us that makes the best bread in town. We brought some over to dinner at Madeleine, Emily and Brian's home the other night. And what does the kid do with it? Just lick the butter off.
