DENALI COMES TO THE SUBURBS

Time to move on from the People's Joy Parade. I'm pretty low on new inventory so I better go find something. However, I have this one from last weekend that will do for today.

St. Louis has a wonderful children's museum, The Magic House, that Ellie loves to visit. The new exhibit is based on the Molly of Denali TV show about a Native Alaskan girl. Although that's indoors, a sculptor was in the yard building this fanciful impression of the mountain. It couldn't be made of sand or it would melt away with first rain. The sculptor was busy and I didn't get to ask him about the material.

MADELEINE MONDAY

On Saturday afternoon we took the kid to the local children's' museum, The Magic House. One feature we haven't gone to in awhile is the Van de Graff generator (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Van_de_Graff_generator ). It produces high voltage with low current and makes your hair go frizzz. (I don't have enough hair to go anywhere.) Ellie was afraid of it in the past. No more.

Giant Tower

Mrs. C and I took Ellie to the Magic House yesterday, STL's excellent children's museum. There is a special exhibit called Towers of Tomorrow, with stunning models of some of the world's tallest buildings and towers made entirely of Legos. The structures were on a number of tables, each with a surrounding platform and a well full of thousands of bricks for visitors to use.

Ellie dove right in but the man next to us created an amazing structure. The slab rose higher and higher, steadied only be a small cross brace at the bottom. Several of us watched as it grew and wobbled, wondering when it would collapse. It didn't. Kenny, the builder, took it to a display table (top), staying together the whole time. It was quite amazing.

It Would Be An improvement

We took Ellie to STL's wonderful children's museum, The Magic House. (Yes, she is officially Madeleine but we all call her Ellie and I'm changing my usage.) I had not been there since our kids were young. It's been greatly expanded and improved. Ellie had a ball.

There was an area devoted to American government. To my surprise, there was a mock-up of the Oval Office. The children could pretend to sit at the president's desk and Ellie took her turn. I think she was taking a call from Putin.

The Constitution requires that the president be at least 35 years of age. A video system lets the kids find out how long they have to wait. I hope it won't be nearly that long (months preferred to years) for a major improvement on the incumbent.
