MADELEINE MONDAY

Well, the kid wasn't very cooperative about posing since she was impatiently searching for the Easter eggs I had sprinkled in front of our house. Oh, well, a girl and her chocolate. The whole system has changed since I was young. There have been no actual eggs for a long time. Now it's plastic eggs that split apart to be filled with candy. No egg salad leftovers any more. Just sugar highs and whatever that leads to.

MADELEINE MONDAY

City Museum is full of things to slide down, indoors and out, metal and wood, curved and straight. Ellie is careening down one on the outside, I presume made from aluminum. Some are long, steep and scary. Audrey, my five year old granddaughter in Michigan, is already a snowboarder. She could handle any of them.

MADELEINE MONDAY

The best teacher I ever had in my life is the photographer Bobbi Lane. I studied portraits with her at the Maine Media Workshops some years ago. She has daily and weekly photo exercises for her alums on her Facebook page. Yesterday's weekly challenge was to photograph a person with an object that is precious to them.

Madeleine was an easy choice. Here she is in front of chez Crowe holding Brown Lambie. It was given to her as a newborn by our good friend Virginia. There are newer back-up lambies but none but the original will do. It's been through the washer, the wringer and mom's doll hospital quite a few times. Hence, brown lambie. Heaven protect it.
