THE SHOW IS ABOUT TO START

 

Almost curtain time at Opera Theatre. This is the lobby of the Loretto Hilton Theater on the campus of Webster University, a smaller local school less than 10 minutes from our home. (No one remembers why it's called that.) It is just under a thousand seats if all the back and side bays are open, with an unusual thrust stage. The opera shares the venue with the St. Louis Repertory Theatre. The acoustics are excellent.                     

A STAR IS BORN

 

St. Louis has lots of theater companies. Perhaps the most notable is the St. Louis Repertory Theater, that has been around for decades. They have a summer program for kids called Camp Rep. Granddaughter Ellie finished her session yesterday with the big group show. She says she wants to be an actress. We wish her fulfillment for her dreams but she has lots of other talents.                      

The Truth Is I Never Left You

We 💗 Argentina. We've been there three times, although unfortunately not just lately. That's why I was glad to hear our major stage company, the St. Louis Repertory Theatre, is starting its season with Andrew Lloyd Webber's Evita. We've been to her tomb and the museum dedicated to her memory in Buenos Aires. Heard the original Patti Lupone production on Broadway, touring companies here and the movie with Madonna.

The Rep gave us a preview during the Theatre Crawl. The performer here, Esmer Garza, is a member of the production's ensemble. Locals, this looks like a don't miss.
