Historic Route 66

...on Route 66. It goes through St. Louie, Joplin, Missouri, Oklahoma City looks oh so pretty (not). I don't think U.S. Route 66 officially exists any more, at least nowhere around here. It was the stuff of American lore, the main highway between Chicago and Los Angeles before the Interstate Highway system was built. I wonder if young people have even heard of it. This picture was taken near the end of the exit ramp from I 44 (which replaced Route 66 from here to Oklahoma) at 18th and Lafayette.
