NO CAMO

 

Still in the Dogtown neighborhood. The owner of this building does not believe in subtlety. Visitors, welcome or not, will have no trouble finding it. I notice that it is a two family. Seems a bit small for that. The sign on the utility pole says no zoo parking. The zoo is kinda sorta in the area but way farther than I'd want to walk.

STL DPB BY THE BEACH - RED SUNSET

A mostly cloudy sunset at Playa Langosta. Underexposed but not color corrected. Would it be the end of the world if we couldn't come back here?         

Blue Letters, Red Shirt

All kinds of themes, all kinds of signs at the women's march. The man in the bottom picture was walking around with a Trump puppet, doing sort of a stand up comedy shtick. His 6 or 7 year old son son followed him around taking video on a phone. No idea whether the shirt was meant literally or ironically.

I've been wondering how, in this country, blue became associated with the left and red with the right. Historically, it's the other way around, the tee shirt being a good example. The red banner of revolution! And, of course, blue-bloods, blue stockings, blue chip stocks. Anybody know how this came about?

So it's red today, is it? Here's a favorite old red in a portrait by Andy Warhol that adorns my office wall. (Just a print. Not a real Warhol.) So in that sense this post has some remote connection to St. Louis. Um, and to red. Workers of the world unite! Waive the red banner high! You have nothing to lose but your access to Blogger. I have much respect for China after two visits but, you know, then there's all that other stuff.

During the Cultural Revolution, the de facto national anthem of China was a stirring number called The East Is Red. Click the player bar below to listen to it. It's a lot more snappy than the official anthem, The March of The Volunteers.
