On High

Working through more New York pix pending new local material (but I have to work today). The top photo features One World Trade Center, now the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere. On the left is the Oculus, the new shopping center and transit hub in the WTC.

The bottom picture is the Brooklyn Bridge, taken from the observation deck on the 102nd floor of One WTC.        

The Brooklyn Bridge

Another one of New York City's much-photographed icons. We walked across the bridge last Friday. It was a gorgeous day and the path was crowded. It is located above and between the driving lanes, making it ideal for photographing the complex structure. I've shot it before. This image, taken with a Lensbaby on a winter day, is my favorite.

The second picture was taken from the top of the Liberty Tower.

STL DPB On The Road: Leaving New York

Back home in St. Louis. I get such a charge every time I return to NYC but, frankly, I can see more of the world because we live in cheap STL. (We saw $1.23 per gallon gasoline on our way home from the airport on Monday.) And we certainly have plans to get out of here in 2009, including Kansas, like the woman below. WHAT BUILDING IN THE TOP PICTURE IS IMPORTANT TO ME: about half way right of center, where the Lensbaby blur really kicks in, is an off-white building that looks like a step pyramid sitting on a cube. That's 120 Wall Street, where my father worked most of his career. He was in commodities, sugar, specifically.
