BIRCHES AT THE ART MUSEUM

At least I think thats what they are. Correction welcome. Not doing well gathering new material. Frankly, feeling increasingly depressed, even repulsed by the situation in my country, so I drive around aimlessly, looking for something but not being engaged. That should change Saturday when we have our big Mardi Gras parade.

I hear you, brother. There's always the Wash U campus, full of little nooks and archways. Used to like going there when I was in this aging study. Shoot a few of the Lindell mansions, esp the one that looks like the one in SUNSET BOULEVARD if it's still there. Head to Compton Heights - some lovely streets like Hawthorne and Longfellow, and that little park near the reservoir. Head down Lafayette Avenue - I grew up in this area, and you can see the former Loretto Academy, (now Lafayette Academy) formerly a school for very proper young ladies who did Maypole dances on its lawn, and where I started piano lessons at age 7. Take a look at Immaculate Conception church, now closed, but the building itself is breathtaking - nearby is its former grade school. Finally there is a beautiful library, both interior and exterior, at Lafayette and Jefferson, that I walked to as a child. Built with $ from Andrew Carnegie.

And keep the faith. My dream ticket is now JB Pritzker and Andy Beshear.
