Hey, this is a Midwestern rust belt city. We got a good supply of decay (although no place can hold a candle to Detroit - see here for some brilliant video about that). I've been cruising The Lou's run-down industrial areas looking for images and found plenty.
I couldn't pick just one. Since, as Mae West said, too much of a good thing can be wonderful, I'm posting a few of my favorites. Pick your own.
Have a look at beautiful examples of the second law of thermodynamics from around the world on City Daily Photo here.

You've got some pretty cool stuff fitting the bill, Bob. Obviously the area is a goldmine. Now I'm off to follow your link.
ReplyDeleteGreat place to look for pictures.
ReplyDeleteDid I hear tornados might be headed your way today? Maybe take a couple of these down... but I doubt it. Built to last back then.
ReplyDeleteI remember riding into downtown from the airport and passing many old and abandoned factories along the way. You've found a great selection here.
ReplyDeleteThey are all brilliant but the one with the motorcyclist is the best of all, at least for me!
ReplyDeleteTop shots.
ReplyDeleteThey're looking quite worn!
ReplyDeleteThey do illustrate "rust belt" -- I particularly like the middle shot with the blue couch. There is a symmetry to all of them.
ReplyDeleteThese are brilliant takes on the theme! For some reason my eye was drawn to the rusted structure with the blue couch too. Much beauty in all this decay.
ReplyDeleteBob, nice photos. I agree hard to chose but I like the sofa best. I could just see a bride and groom having their portrait done there!
ReplyDeleteI especially love the last two shots....wonderfully captured.
ReplyDeleteYou’ve made a great Theme Day post. I'm glad you picked all of them to share with us, Bob.
ReplyDeleteI can't choose. I think the last one because of the light iand shadows but the blue sofa is pretty great and unexpected!
ReplyDeleteV
all perfect for the theme day but I like the third one the most with the lounge thrown in for that extra decay.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your weekend.
Pick one? Nah. I love 'em all. But if I had to pick, I would go with the motorcyclist passing by a declining building. Or maybe the sofa. Then again, the light and shadow is pretty good . . .
ReplyDeletemy first time here via theme day,
ReplyDeleteloving your photos especially the first, the one with sofa..all!!
Lots of great shots here... I particularly like the symmetry of the one with the sofa. Good stuff.
ReplyDeleteThe blue sofa really caught my eye. All of these are great for theme day.
ReplyDeleteTough pick Bob, but I think my two favs are the first and third images. I had a hard time with this one :)
ReplyDeleteLot's of decay in the inner city...of any city...
ReplyDeleteI'm assuming you didn't get in the path of those decay mongering tornados that were headed your way...
Really love that last shot...love the focus
ReplyDeleteProperty owners and city councils conspiring with photographers? Great shots!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely the last one. Haunting and beautiful.
ReplyDeleteNice series of decay shots here Bob.
ReplyDeleteFirst and third shots are my favourites, but the whole series is fantastic.
