So, yeah, we all went up the Arch yesterday for the first time in I don't know when. Here you have a panorama of beautiful downtown St. Louis, shot from the top. It ain't much but it's what we got. My office is down there somewhere in a nondescript building. Be it ever so humble, there's no place like home.

I love how some buildings are dwarfed by the sheer size of thatmotorway and the high rises. Wonderful belvedere!
ReplyDeleteThis is not even remotely disappointing, Bob. I don't know what I expected but I find this utterly satisfying. You make it possible for us to see so many details and the way St. Louis unfolds before us is so gracious and open and welcoming.

ReplyDeleteI don't think I'd ever fully appreciated just how big St Louis is. So if you're looking down on all this, that Arch must be humungous! Great photo.
ReplyDeleteThe Old Courthouse has the appearance of a capitol and a mall. This photo brings back memories.
ReplyDeleteGrowing up in St. Louis County, as a teenager I used to take the bus downtown with a friend, we would walk around downtown and just hang out for a while, then go to the stadium early to watch batting practice and then the baseball game, before returning on the bus after the game. My father would listen to the game on the radio to know when it ended so he would know when to drive to the shopping center in Clayton to pick us up.

ReplyDeleteMy partner's young son, 14, is probably going to spend three weeks in St Louis early August, staying with a host family. I wonder if he'll get a chance to come here?
