CDPB Monthly Theme Day - Bridges

The staff here at STL CDPB obviously has a problem with authority. We can't follow direct orders, so when theme day rolls around we refuse to take the matter literally. Those of you who have seen some of our previous theme day posts (like October 1, August 1 and July 1) know what we mean.

This month, we have an exciting contest for you. There are three elements of this photo pertaining to the theme of bridges. The first person to post a comment correctly identifying all of them wins a fabulous prize, a print of your choice of any picture from the annals of this blog or our Flickr site, made specially for you on a whiz-bang Epson Stylus Photo R2400 inkjet. Persons related to the photographer by blood or marriage or employed by our advertising or marketing agencies are not eligible. They can have a print any time they want.

Mid-afternoon Saturday update: some commenters have come awfully close but no one has got all three parts exactly right yet.

These City Daily Photo Blogs are trying to cross something to get from one place to another:

  1. Here's my guess: omar sharif (the violin is because he's an eternal romantic and never remarried) and his bridge column, and the anti-bush sign held up at a bridge convention sometime this november...(am not sure if that is george bush's photo there on the right???)

anyway, this was such a great post--really had fun with it...am not sure if I will be participating with theme day as I never know what it is until it's upon us (I am never organized enough) but I'll see what I can find...

    now about that photo print...

    :)

  2. Great "Bridge" photo, it made me smile. I recognize the bridge of the violin, and a picture of Lloyd Bridges. But, am not sure of the third bridge, unless the other guy has a bridge in his dentures.

By the way - you were right about the lampost photo, the camera was held directly below it.

And, I've found that the problem I was having - was a blogger problem, found a fix for it, and have gotten rid of the "download file" pop up.

  4. Great! I thought Julia from Newcastle, Australia, was the exception on bridges, but the concept seems to be expanding...

  5. well there is the bridge on the violin [is it? - stringed instrument anyway] of the pictures one is an actor called Lloyd or Jeff Bridges and other was the star of the film Bridge over the River Kwai or was it A Bridge Too Far?

  6. Hey, nice photo! A couple of others had more or less the same idea - as in bridges in terms of music.

  7. Bridge of the nose? Is that the third one?

Violin bridge, Lloyd Bridges, and bridge of the nose of the other fella.

  8. HA! Wendy beat me to it.

I guessed: violin bridge, bridge of the nose on Omar Shariff and Lloyd Bridges.

So when are you going to be in NYC again?!?!?

  10. 1. Lloyd Bridges
    2. Violin bridge
    3. Omar Sharif is an International bridge champion (the card game, that is)

  11. BTW, thanks everyone for leaving the Omar Sharif one to me! Of the two photos, that's the one I actually knew! Lloyd is, of course, Jeff and Beau's dad.

Who remembers him in TV show Sea Hunt in the early 1960s ..."gurgle splugle gurgle blooob bllob blloob" ?

  14. Is your camera a bridge too ?
    Your interpretation is cute !

  15. clever...the bridge of the violin is obvious, and the early picture of Lloyd Bridges wasn't too bad, but it took me a few minutes to remember that Omar Sharif is considered one of the world's foremost bridge players

  16. Good Lord!
    You think too much.

  17. Cool conceptual bridge photo. Not sure about your quizz, though. Obviously, we see a violin bridge. I do believe the photo on the right to be Lloyd Bridges. The other is omar Sharif. I believe he wrote a book on bridge. Or something like that. But I suppose I'm a bit late with my answers. no points for being late as they say.

  18. Brilliant. Looking forward to the next theme day.

btw, re: your 3.12 post, sat radio (or an ipod) is a necessity anywhere in the midwest/south, unless you really like classic rock or religious music.
