What is it? Few St. Louisans recognize it. It is the very top of the Arch, photographed from the levee beside the river with a telephoto lens. The Arch is triangular in cross section with one point facing down. The small slits are the windows of the vertiginous observation deck, looking straight down over 600 feet. Abraham - the Arch is designed to sway up to 18 inches in a 100 mph gale and remain stable. I have never been up there on a very windy day so I don't know what it feels like. One of the shots I got in this sequence shows a boy's face at one of those windows. The image is quite fuzzy at that distance but he looks very far away indeed.
