Hooray! It's Opening Day!

Cards Home Opener 2012 1

Baseball's defending champions, the St. Louis Cardinals had their home opener yesterday. They started the season on the road with a respectable 5-2 record. Unfortunately, Friday was a bit grim. It rained most of the morning and the first half of the afternoon, so the game started almost two hours late. It was quite chilly, despite all the recent summer-like weather, and gusts swirled through the stadium. Oh, and the Cardinals got the stuffing kicked out of them by the lowly and despised Chicago Cubs. We left early.

There was a pre-game party, rally or something in a parking lot next to the stadium. One of the sponsors was the Hardees hamburger chain, which has locations in the Midwest, Mid-Atlantic states and Southeast. Its headquarters is here and we're mighty proud to be home to a company that promotes a burger with 1,290 calories, 92 g of fat and 2,840 mg of sodium (would you like fries with that, sir?). Hardees' moving, inflatable stick figure and one of the fans at the Budweiser bar were clearly in sync.

Down to Ste. Genevieve, Missouri, today to celebrate 38 years of wedded bliss. We actually like each other.

  4. For some reason, I always love those inflatable person-thingies! I can watch them for hours. :)
Glad your opening day went well, I heard it was the Bluejays opening last night as well, but I have no idea how they played as baseball is not my thing. ;)

  5. Just think, Bob... for the Cubs and their fans, this is the high point of the season. It's all downhill from here!
