STL DPB On The Road: Zion National Park

We drove two and a half hours northeast of Las Vegas yesterday, cutting across the corner of Arizona and into Utah to visit Zion National Park. The Virgin River cuts a deep and spectacular gorge, giving visitors a complex lesson in geology. Although the park is surrounded by desert, its cool micro-climate and ample water create a unique oasis.

  3. Julie and I were at Monument Valley over Christmas, and we talked about getting up to Zion and Bryce Canyon soon. Your photos will inspire us.

  4. No words are befitting of this photographic beauty, except maybe just a 'wow'.

  5. P.S. And don't you just love taking photos of people who can't come running after you to protest? ;<)

  7. Well, it's official, I'm totally jealous. We tried to take a road trip in September to visit parks in Utah. Turns out you have to book accommodations weeks if not months in advance. Who knew? But it seems once you get off the interstate there is plenty of competition for lodging that time of year. Lesson learned. In the meantime I'm enjoying the virtual trip through your photos.

  8. Wonderful again, Bob. Zion is on my bucket list, but I don't intend to do it hanging off the side of a sheer cliff.
