That's what makes the top picture from the balloon glow dramatic, IMHO. The leaden skies were at the other end of the range from the intense fires that brought the balloons to life. Still, I think the shots I converted to black and white have some drama, beyond just being exercises in light and shape. The people in the foreground of the bottom picture are lit with fill flash.
Sometimes nature can be so obliging don't you think Bob, that dramatic sky is the perfect backdrop to the amazing colours from the fires that light up the balloons, the crowds add another dimension. I do like the B&W too, interesting stuff going on there with lighting!
ReplyDeleteGreat shots Bob!
ReplyDeleteYou already know my pick but they are both awesome.

I agree, both shots are amazing! However, my preference goes to the colours and light on top.
ReplyDeletej'adore cette manifestation, les photographes peuvent s’éclater. deux belles photos, avec une préférence pour la photo en bw
ReplyDeleteAll of your balloon photos are fantastic. Must have been a great event.
ReplyDeleteI have a strong lean toward the brilliantly colored balloons against an ominous dark sky. The contrast is what makes it.
