There was more to see than art and artists during Studio Open House Weekend. The spaces in which artists work and exhibit, the necessarily cheap neighborhoods where they hang out, have lots of fascinating details.
David Ottinger, who we saw last Wednesday, and several others displayed their work at Mad Art Gallery, a recycled 1930's police station across the street from the Budweiser brewery. Down in the basement, near the toilets and the drinks machine (no connection implied), I discovered these strict orders taped to a door.

love this distressed door with its computer generated signs...nice find.
ReplyDelete... Good Day to you too. Have a wonderful day. Unlike these two signs, you have the option of having a wonderful day. Sheeeeesh. No exclamation points either.
ReplyDeleteles artistes ont souvent sauves des quartiers qui etaient entrain de mourir, malheureusement apres ils redeviennent a la mode et les artistes doivent repartir vers d'autres quartiers

No connection taken Bob haha!(well maybe a little!!)
ReplyDeleteAt least the second notice says 'thank you.' I rather bristle at notices like this. Why not say 'please' and why the word 'crap?' I guess I'm getting old...
