I have seen this man at each of the three years of the People's Joy Parade. I'm sure the bananas are plastic - they are much too perfect and uniform. What's he all about? Maybe he's a shill for Chiquita.
His name is Uriel Starbuck, he is the founder of an art bike group that I belong to called the Banana Bike Brigade (hence the bananas) that's been going strong since 1993. He doesn't ride anymore due to health conditions, but always rides a golf cart in the Mardi Gras parade, waving regally to the crowd. P.S. Banana Bike Brigade placed 2nd in the Mardi Gras Parade in 2016 and 1st place in 2015. https://www.facebook.com/BananaBikeBrigade/?fref=ts
J'adore, un look d'enfer et les rayons de son velo, superbe photo

Ha, what a guy. I always have a couple of bananas with me when I go for a bike ride but it would look a bit weird if I tried this!
ReplyDeleteIt takes all kinds . . .
ReplyDeleteI had to look for shill in the dictionary and I guess you are right. I wonder how much Chiquita Banana is paying him... :-)))
