Although it's a rare day when I don't see the Arch, it often strikes me as, well, just on the edge of unreal. What the hell is this gigantic, abstract thing sitting on the front lawn of a medium-sized post-industrial city? I've seen many of the great monuments of the world and this one might be the weirdest. It's not on human scale. It's aloof from all the tiny people below it. It lacks an obvious meaning except sheer coolness. So I cobbled together this picture as a Lensbaby HDR. Maybe I'll dream about it tonight.

encore un bel effet lensbaby, j'aime toujours autant. On dirait un porte du temps
ReplyDeleteI must admit, I'm a fan...
ReplyDeleteKeep on dreaming Bob, I'll dream with you. As Olivier says, this could be the gateway to travelling in time. Fast forward to the next century? Just whizz through the gate and see what happens. Magic!
ReplyDeleteYour assessment is very true ... and I like the vaseline-like abstract.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, Bob!
Psalms 118:20 This is the gate of the Lord through which the righteous may enter.

ReplyDeleteThose who have a claim to righteousness always scare me.
Apparently you are not righteous. I will pray for you Nathalie LOL. Look up for your redemption draws near.
